The Cole Sims Memorial Scholarship alumni baseball game will be played Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Hayden High School baseball field, next to the football stadium and behind the elementary school. Organizers had hoped for at least 20 players and now have 35, so the day has been expanded to two games, with the first starting at 9 a.m. Each game should last about an hour and a half.
All of the players are local, and the roster has been posted on Facebook.
The game benefits the Cole Sims Memorial Scholarship Fund, named in honor of a player who was killed.
Players will not hit against a live pitcher. A coach will pitch from behind an L-screen to keep the games moving. Players who want extra swings can arrive early and use the batting cages.
Families are welcome to come and fill the bleachers.
