History

Railroad depots, mineral springs, and the caverns that came after — the research archive behind the name.

Rickwood Caverns State Park

Discovered by a Boy Scout troop in the 1950s, opened as a state park in 1974, and reconnected to a much older railroad story in 2026.

1880-1915

Reid’s Station

An L&N Railroad depot that anchored a 2,600-acre orchard operation until the line moved on in 1914–15 — and whose ground resurfaced in 2026.

1815-Present

Blount Springs

A 19th-century mineral-springs resort that drew visitors from five states — and the spring-fed lake still at the center of the community today.
