Five children are documented on his memorial, buried across at least two other cemeteries, including Henry McPherson (1828-1883), buried at the unnamed Smoke Rise cemetery, and America McPherson Sanders (1826-1896), buried at Ricetown. His own parents are documented a generation further back: PVT Daniel McPherson (1755-1844) and Susannah Kincheloe McPherson (1755-1850).

Checked directly: the three husbands are not documented as brothers. Henry Gibbs Sims’s parents and siblings are recorded and include neither of the others, and the other two have no parentage documented at all. Three separate marriages into the Sims name, not one family alliance.
- Where two of his grandchildren are buried. George McPherson (1855-1899) and Edward Robert “Ed” McPherson (1874-1899) - both sons of Henry McPherson (1828-1883) - are at Mount Tabor Cemetery, Blountsville, alongside a later Henry McPherson (1884-1946) line.
- A Tidwell marriage: Ruby T. McPherson (1900-1977), also at Mount Tabor, is a daughter of Blake Tidwell (1870-1948) - a documented son of Sgt. Uriah Tidwell - connecting this family to the Tidwell line behind the county’s covered bridges.
A marriage into the Sapp family. His grandson Henry Grady Sanders (1844-1937) - son of America McPherson Sanders and Edward Sanders - married Mary Elizabeth Sapp (1845-1915), daughter of Capt. Benjamin Harrison Sapp Sr., who ran the Goffe Hotel at Blount Springs. The couple are buried at Warrior Cemetery.
