Jesse Armstrong

Person

Born 1803, died 1863 - a documented member of the Armstrong family, one of Rockland/Hayden‘s six original founding families.

Appears in: Hays Cemetery.

Notable descendants:

  • William Armstrong (1831-1917), Nathan Armstrong (1833-1909), James Stewart Armstrong (1837-1904), Isaac Thomas Armstrong (1840-1917), Jesse Isham Taylor Armstrong (1848-1926), Nancy Ann M. Armstrong Hays (1850-1890), Margaret Elizabeth Armstrong Russell (1853-1927) - his documented children, confirmed via Find a Grave.
  • Grandchildren: 43 documented across 7 of these lines, the great majority born after 1850 - the generation this project’s pre-1850 cemetery research systematically missed. Selected: Charlotte Armstrong (1872-1880); Isaac J. Armstrong (1863-1935); Dr Jesse Isham Armstrong (1864-1926); William Madison Armstrong (1866-1916); Nathan G. Armstrong (1867-1873); Joann E. Armstrong (1869-1873); W Lomax Armstrong (1871-1943); Mary Elizabeth Armstrong Gallups (1870-1970); Margaret Louise “Lou” Armstrong Porter (1872-1931); Nancy Ann Rebecca “Nannie” Armstrong White (1874-1967). Because the list runs to 43 names, the full grandchild list is recorded in the vault research note rather than here.
  • Nancy Ann M. Armstrong Hays (1850-1890) married into the Hays family; her children Martha Amanda Hayes Holt (1880-1947) and Nathan Lafayette Hays (1883-1960) already appear on the Hays entry as grandchildren of Standwick Hays - the same two people, reached from both sides.
  • His wife was Elizabeth Holt Armstrong (1810-1896), and a granddaughter, Louneetie Josephine Armstrong Graves (1881-1962), married into the Graves line.
