History Glossary

The Gray Goose Saloon

Place

A whiskey shop set up around 1892-1893 by John Franklin, sitting five miles north of Warrior, on the L&N line, in Blount County - just outside Warrior’s five-mile dry radius, selling to Warrior residents who couldn’t legally buy closer to home. The location matches almost exactly where Reid’s Gap sits, though no record directly ties the two.
