Signed the Jackson House’s opening advertisement in the Memphis Daily Appeal, May 14, 1874, promising the hotel “will be ready to accommodate the public by the First of June” - almost certainly the hotel’s first on-site manager, not Col. J.F.B. Jackson himself, who owned the property.
