Born 2 January 1852 in Blount County, Alabama; died 19 March 1928. Married Lou Mina “Mima” Thomas Sapp, with whom he had six sons and one daughter. Four of his sons served in World War I; two of them, Grover and Ananias “Gus,” died in service, along with a stepson - a significant local WWI casualty story.

- Grover T. Sapp (1893-1918) and Ananias “Gus” T. Sapp (1895-1917) - both died in WWI service.
