President of the Southern Industrial Company. Reopened a plugged, abandoned oil well at Reid’s Gap in 1901, finding oil mixed with water at around 180 feet. With partner John L. Burns, incorporated the venture in 1902 as the Reid’s Gap Oil, Gas, and Mining Company.
