Born 1834, died 1890 - a landowning family patriarch buried at Reid’s Gap Cemetery, one of two real candidates for who Reid’s Gap was named for. Married Mary Louisa Burns Reid on 15 December 1859. Their six children were Lewis Marion Reed/Reid, Lucy, Zachariah Buckner “Z.B.,” Drew, James Harris “Jim,” and Lugenia G. Reid McPherson.
