History Glossary

Nectar Cemetery

Place

A large roster of 49 records with births before 1850, delivering directly on Nectar‘s own naming history: Henry Middleton Tidmore Sr. (1761-1853) and Margaret Brazzel Tidmore (1785-1857) are buried here, confirming the family the town was originally named for.

Notable graves:

  • Henry Middleton Tidmore Sr. (1761 - 29 Sep 1853), the town’s own namesake family.
  • Charles Holt (Veteran, 30 Mar 1762 - 19 Sep 1847) - a confirmed federal pensioner.
  • Pvt. Hezekiah Benjamin Posey (20 Mar 1751 - circa 1847) - migrated to Blount County around 1796, earlier than any other documented arrival found in this research; wounded by Tories in 1781 guarding wagons.
