An L&N Railroad depot on the South & North Alabama Railroad line, in the hills of southern Blount County. The line was completed through the gap in 1872; the station itself first appears on record around 1880. Who “Reid” actually was still isn’t fully settled, though the name itself is documented as far back as 1859, thirteen years before the depot existed. The site’s early working name during planning was “Reid’s Station,” before the project settled on West Blount as the outlet’s actual name.
