Warnock’s Knob is “the highest point of the mountain that skirts the south side of Blountsville Valley,” per George Powell’s 1855 “History of Blount County,” which uses it as a landmark in describing local weather and rainfall observation. It also appears labeled on Greg Caudle’s own 1895 USGS topo quad, in the same southern-Blount-County cluster as Reid’s Gap, Blackburn Mountain, and Pond Mountain.
