Labeled on the 1895 USGS topo quad in the Blackburn Mountain/Reid Gap/Burn Mountain cluster southwest of Blount Springs - a real sinkhole feature, consistent with the karst limestone geology already documented for this area (Rickwood Caverns, Bangor Cave, Blount Springs’ own mineral springs). Known today simply as “The Sink” - the “Canfield” part of the name has dropped out of local usage even though it survives on the 1895 map.
