Duffee Family Cemetery

Place

The Duffee family’s own burial ground. Mary Gordon Duffee named three Duffee brothers who joined the Confederate army in 1861 - William Henry, George Gillespie, and James Knox - but only James Knox is buried in this family plot.

Notable graves:

  • Matthew Duffee (1803-1878) and Martha Allison Gillespie Duffee (1809-1896).
  • Mary Gordon Duffee (1844-1920).
  • Capt. James Knox Duffee (1837-unknown) - a Confederate officer, per his own grave marker.
