Born 1815, died 1905 - physician, lawyer, and Baptist preacher who founded The Broad-Axe newspaper at Bangor at age 60, and personally joined Wheeler’s Cavalry, 1st Alabama Regiment, in 1862.

- His parents are buried at Mount Tabor Cemetery, Blountsville - Rev. John T. Musgrove (1787-1850) and Penelope McCarty Musgrove (1782-1866) - and her own father is documented there too: Michael McCarty II (1754-1850), which pushes this line back a further generation to a man born in 1754.
- A second Musgrove branch at the same cemetery: Capt. William Henry Musgrove (1796-1862), with six documented children including John Fowler Musgrove (1838-1908), Eliza (1828-1912), Virginia (1835-1914) and Lucy W. Musgrove (1840-1918). His relationship to Rev. John T. Musgrove is not documented - the right generation to be a brother, but unconfirmed.
